Until Branches Bend

Interview with Sophie Jarvis, the director of the film “Until Branches Bend”

“I’m always drawn to absurdism, like I do love the idea that strange things already exist in our world, we just need to look at them” - Sophie Jarvis

Robin works as a grader for a local cannery in a seemingly idyllic Canadian town. When she finds a strange beetle in a peach she is faced with difficult decisions and in conflict with the tight-knit community which is standing against her.

Although “Until Branches Bend” is Sophie Jarvis’s first full-lenght feature film, she has directed many short films, including „The Worst Day Ever“, that premiered in 2012 at the Toronto Film Festival. Her recent work includes "Medical Drama" (Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival 2019) and the stop motion animation "Zeb's Spider" (co-directed with Alicia Eisen and produced by the National Film Board of Canada). Sophie Jarvis began her film career reading fan mail for "The L Word".
