Interview with Enen Yo, the director of the film "Double Life", interviewer Edvinas Pukšta
"There are lots of reasons and occasions for what you can hire a husband or a boyfriend - like weddings and funerals. " - Enen Yo
Shiori, an injured ex-dancer, has signed up for 'body touch workshops', but her shy and secretive husband flatly refuses to join. Shiori then decides to hire a substitute for her husband and contacts a freelance "impersonator". Shiori and Junnosuke sign a long-term contract to play a happily married couple. She even rents out a small apartment for particularly passionate dates, and the mild-mannered Junnosuke always does whatever is asked of him – albeit for money.
Enen Yo is in our studio today, to tell us more about her directorial debut. The Beijing Film Academy graduate sensitively explores the unusual Japanese oddity of renting a substitute person for important events in someone’s life, examining a more dangerous side of these relationships.
