Interview with the Director of the film “The Land Within” Fisnik Maxville, interviewer Dhanushka Gunathilake
“Most of my films have, at the center, the question of trying to find one’s place in the world.” - Fisnik Maxville
In the winter of 2008, Remo, adopted to Switzerland as a boy, receives an invitation from his cousin to return to his homeland Kosovo. A mass grave has been found in the village where he lived as a child and the exhumed bodies need to be identified. In the whirlwind of a terrifying process, Remo rediscovers the lost paradise of his childhood - a ghost town destroyed by war.
Fisnik Maxville was born in Kosovo, but during the Yugoslav Wars, he had to flee to Switzerland as a child. Years later, after getting used to the new country, he obtained a higher education in International Relations and Geopolitics. He is currently studying Film Directing at ECAL/HEAD and has written and directed several short films and documentaries.
