"Green Geng is an uncharted South Korean director and screenwriter, whose avant-garde debut film, strikingly absurd and violent, is probably the most mysterious film in Black Nights Film Festival's lineup.
The film was made in collaboration with South Korean, Albanian and Kosovan creators, focusing on the infamous 38th parallel. Although it tells a certain story, it has no specific timeline or linear order. Without mentioning names or making accusations, the film touches on unimaginable war crimes, massacres, famines, guerrilla fights and rapes, constructing scenes with expressive colors and figures. Anyone familiar with the Chinese revolutionary story of the 20th century will relate to it, although it is completely fictional. All of the actors are non-professional: they're Geng's friends, acquaintances, students and co-villagers. In order to make the film work, he made the filming a game-like process. The shocking opening scene lays the ground for the lyrical and hallucinatory experience that follows, which is bound to leave a lasting impression on every viewer.
