Interview with Linda Olte, the director of the film “Sisters”, interviewer Helena Maarja Tarro.
"I like to tire my actors because when they get tired, they act more naturally. Works with children and professionals as well."
“Sisters” tells the story of 13-year-old Anastasija and 8-year-old Diana, who live in an orphanage, but receive news that a nice and wealthy family in USA is planning to adopt them. Diana is happily ready to move to America, but Anastasija wants to stay in Latvia and find their biological mother. With their wishes so different, Anastasija has to make a difficult decision that will decide the fate of both sisters.
Latvian director Linda Olte has mainly worked for Latvian television, exploring the social problems of children and families in documentaries. For her debut feature “Sisters”, Linda Olte spent two years researching, talking to children in the orphanage and weaving their stories into the script to raise public awareness of the problems associated with adoption and the separation of families.
