Interview with Matías Bize, the director of the film "The Punishment", interviewer Javier Garcia Puerto
"The movie is like an invitation to think about how we build our relation, how we build the society, and about our own life." - Matías Bize
A married couple decided to leave their 7-year-old child alone in the forest as punishment. Ana is driving the car, her face is serious and angry. Her husband Mateo is sitting next to her, who is tense and keeps repeating that Ana should turn back. After waiting for a while, they turn around, but when they return, they only find the child's hat. The boy is missing.
Matías Bize made his first short film as a student. In 2002, while still a student, he directed his first feature film “Saturday”, which premiered at the Mannheim-Heidelberg Film Festival in 2003, where it won 4 awards. With the film "The Life of Fish", Bize secured his place on the international scene.
