Interview with Titas Laucius, the director of "Parade"
"At first it was like stand-up, my film, you know, a lot of jokes." – Titas Laucius
Some things in life are forever... But usually, not marriage. Miglė's ex-husband is looking to remarry: they have been legally separated for 26 years, but the divorcees still need an annulment from the Catholic Church. The priest does not make the process easy. Miglė is forced to report on her sex life from decades ago, an alleged cheating attempt and how drunk one or the other was during the wedding. Amidst the dizzying absurdity of the situation, Miglė suddenly feels closer to her ex-husband than she ever had before.
Titas Laucius is in the studio today, telling us all about his debut as a film director. The filmmaker is better known for his screenwriting (Seima (2019), Snake (2018)). His debut film is an outstanding testimony of his dramaturgical talent, masterfully intertwining the genre elements of drama and comedy.
