Interview with Julie Esparbes, the producer of "Life’s A Bitch", interviewer Javier Garcia Puerto
"After the very special debut film Death by Death, Xavier Seron is back to present his intriguing yet funny second feature film Life’s A Bitch. It is a tragicomedy that examines the overlapping destinies of three people. The film tells three stories about people and their dogs. The work, with its elegant black-and-white on-screen language and patient sense of rhythm, makes one doubt whether a dog really is a man's best friend. The film producer Julie Esparbes, however, reassures that the purpose of the film is ""to defend humanity and to defend a human contact. What we have lost of our humanity and what maybe the dogs still have. We should fight for this"".
Interestingly, Seron, a filmmaker from Belgium, is a lawyer by education. His interest in a career change began in 2001, when he enrolled at a top film school in Belgium. Seron's favorite themes include, for example, the analysis of human relationships and the struggle between mankind and society. In addition to that, he likes to do everything absurdly.
