Interview with Dana Nechushtan, the director, and Elaine Meijerink and Roos Englebert the actresses of “Piece of My Heart”, interviewer Christoph Gröner
"I am very attracted to the women's friendships. And I think it is very strong in this film. Especially when you are in such a world where you are actually only on your own and then someone comes in and you need this someone. Olga gives life to Irma. And Irma gives life to Olga. They need each other in life. So that's the main attraction." – Dana Nechushtan
This psychologically mercilessly tense film penetrates the boundaries of the lowest human feelings. Professional envy may blind and destroy a person and his closest relationships, and even talent or onerous work is not enough to remain on a high pedestal. Two best friends – Irma and Olga – who have dedicated every cell of their body to the art of dance and understand each other without words are placed in a complex situation when one’s “unexplainable something” that the other is missing lifts her into heights from where it is easy to come tumbling down.
Dana Nechushtan graduated in 1994 from the Netherlands Film and Television Academy in Amsterdam. With her graduation film "Djinn" she won several awards and is also nominated for the Oscar for Best Student Film. She has created feature films, music videos, awarded TV series as well as a theatre play. "Piece of My Heart" is her sixth full-length feature film.
Elaine Meijerink and Roos Englebert are young professional dancers. “Piece of My Heart” was their first film.
