"Clear interest in the relationship between the son and the father is shown in many of Vivian Goffette's films. ""Clenched Fist"" is no exception.
The heavy film tells the story of a broken family where the father has ended up behind bars for serious crimes. However, the grandmother's funeral provides an opportunity for the family to meet and rebuild relationships, which is especially important for the younger son. A connection forms between the child and the father, and the boy dreams of a trusting relationship with a caring father. However, the complex nature of the criminal still involves self-interest and manipulation.
Casting for the film was done twice because the evil pandemic disrupted plans, and by the time of filming, some of the selected children had grown up. Luckily Yanis Frish remained in the planned role of the main character.
Belgian director Vivian Goffette is an experienced director of short films and documentaries. In addition, he has worked as an assistant director on several films and television projects. Goffette's film ""The Postcard"" was nominated for an Oscar for Best Short Film in 1999. ""Clenched Fist"" is his second feature film.
