An interview with Yevhen Titarenko, the director of "Eastern Front", interviewer Edvinas Pukšta
"""Eastern Front"" is a real-life documentary filmed directly from the frontlines of the Ukrainian war, conveying harrowing footage through a body camera. The main character is volunteer paramedic Yevhen Titarenko, who also happens to be the director of this film. Directing alongside him is Vitaliy Manskiv, a passionate anti-Kremlin activist, who used to be a full-time director before the breakout of the war, is even listed on Russia's wanted list, which shows that he has shared his views on Russia's brutality with the world in a powerful way.
Titarenko and his eight-member team capture things from the front lines that no one should ever have to experience. The resulting documentary is at times uncomfortably raw and direct but, at the same time, it firmly illustrates how one nation is fighting for the survival of their country and people.
""Usually about wars speak people in costumes and suits, but no one of them has seen it with their own eyes and it's very important for understanding completely what we are talking about.""
