An interview with Dragan Bjelogric, the director of "Guardians of the Formula", interviewer Andrei Liimets
The Serbian director Dragan Bjelogric is one of the most outstanding film stars of the Balkan region, known for both his acting career as well as producing and directing multiple award winning movies.
The film “The Guardians of the Formula” is based on a true story, bringing light to the scientific experiment that took place in Vinca Institute, described in Goran Milaschinovic’s novel. In 1958, after an accident in a faulty nuclear reactor, a severely irradiated scientist and his assisting students arrive in Paris, where they are reluctantly treated. The only possible cure is thought to be an untested method, which is possible to conduct only with the involvement of voluntary donors, who are ready to put their life in danger to save the lives of complete strangers.
“I wanted to open the story and start the discussion about which kind of world we are living in right now. Watching the movie might give a feeling like it’s a fairytale, but it’s not. It’s based on a true story,” said Bjelogric in an interview with Andrei Liimets.
