Interview with Ramunas Cicenas, the director of "The Test", interviewer Edvinas Pukšta
"Ramunas Cicenas, a renowned Lithuanian comedian and actor returns to PÖFF, this time as a director, making a strong debut with his first comedy “The Test”. Although it is his first film, he has directed about 12 performances in theatre, and has a strong preference for improvisation and freedom in the actors' work.
The film is a cynical reflection of a high-class society, full of absurd and even hysteria. The story begins as the protagonist Raimundas proposes to Milda on Instagram live and has to convince her extended family to accept his decision. In the chaotic course of events, the vices and inanity of their lifestyle become exponentially clearer and being able to preserve his feelings becomes a challenge of its own.
The haunting comedy was filmed in a beautiful Lithuanian castle in less than 2 weeks, which meant living on the set and filming from the moment of waking up until falling asleep.
