Interview with Gentian Koçi the director of “A Cup of Coffee and New Shoes On” and actors Edgar Morais, Rafael Morais, interviewer Edvinas Pukšta
"We had over six months of sign language classes before the shooting"
Gentian Koçi comes to PÖFF with his second feature film “A Cup of Coffee and New Shoes On”. The story is simple and clear, but with mise-en-scènes the director skilfully creates an emotion that stays with you for a long time. It is based on true events of inseparable deaf-mute twin brothers, who discover that due to a genetic disease, they will separately, but progressively and irreversibly go blind. Not being able to see the world and each other anymore, they have to make a strong decision.
Gentian Koçi is a director, screenwriter and film producer from Tirana. His short films and documentaries have been selected and awarded in many festivals. He was internationally recognized for his documentary "Not a Carwash", which was nominated for the Special Jury Award in 2012 at Sheffield Doc/Fest. In 2017, Gentian Koçi presented his first feature film "Daybreak", which has received a lot of positive reviews and has been selected in more than 50 important film festivals all over the world.
