An interview with Pavo Marinković, the director and screenwriter of "Bosnian Pot", interviewer Simona Stenberg
"After working in media and theater jobs for some time, Pavo Marinkovic took the leap, quit his dayjob and became a freelance writer. His first film “Tressette - the Story of an Island” came out 17 years ago, marking the beginning of a successful career. The movie “Bosnian Pot” is his latest work, a semi-autobiographical piece, delivering the story of a failed Bosnian writer, who must prove his cultural contribution to the country in order to avoid deportation to Austria. Marinkovic marks that although you may feel for the main character, it is not a film that aims to make you pity him, but one to make you consider the wake up call that the danger of deportation gives to a slumbered poet. In the eyes of Marinkovic, it is really a film about failure, set in the context of contemporary Europe, and therefore handling highly relevant topics, such as integration of immigrants.
“It’s the story of people who want to go somewhere, but also of the people who are waiting for them to come…”
